Tamilnadu Engineering Admission Procedure | Government Quota
TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission ) is a state level counselling for admission to the undergraduate B.E/ B.Tech degree courses offered by the institutions or colleges located in the limits of Tamil Nadu state. TNEA counselling form will be issue for the students who completed higher secondary on every year. Tamilnadu Engineering Admission TNEA is an authority conducting counselling for the 12th students who wants join to engineering B.E, B.Tech, B.Arch. And students from other states can also pursue engineering education from TNEA admission process. They have to buy and submit Anna University counselling application form before the last date. Mostly the form will be available in all govt. engineering colleges and Anna universities. Students can submit the filled form directly to the centers or can send the application through post.
The candidates should be the native of Tamil Nadu state are eligible to apply. The outside candidates studied their schooling in Tamil Nadu may also apply. The children of persons who have been serving in Public sector or government sector for the last five years in Tamil Nadu may also apply for TNEA.
The candidates must have passed the 12th (intermediate) or its equivalent examination from the government recognized board with the subjects as Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry with the percentage as 50% (for general candidates), 45% (for backward class including Muslim), 40% (MBC & DNC) and 35% (for SC/ST/SCA) candidates.
Candidates shall be required to affix the photocopies of required documents with the application form. The candidates shall be required the documents as the following:
- Transfer Certificate
- Mark sheet of 10th and 12th examinations
- Community Certificate
- Hall Ticket of 12th examination (In case of pursuing) Nativity Certificate (If applicable)
- Demand Draft
- Refugee Certificate (If applicable)
The candidates must have to send the application form along with the documents mentioned as above and DD of application fee (in favour of “The Secretary, TNEA, Anna University, Chennai – 25”) to the following address within the given time.

The candidates who declared qualified in the admission test will be notified about counseling dates and time through counseling letter sent by post. The merit list will be drawn according to candidates’ marks in the test and thus their rank will be determined. The venue of attending counseling rounds will also be mentioned in the counseling letter.
The eligibility criteria for MBA: Any graduation of three years duration or more that is recognized by Anna University, Chennai.
The eligibility criteria for MCA: Any graduation of three years duration with maths in +2 level. BCA, B.Sc.(IT/CSE) eligible for direct second year admission.
The eligibility criteria for ME: BE / B.Tech / MCA recognized by Anna University, Chennai.
Admissions to the Government Quota are handled by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. Candidates seeking admission under the Government Quota must have written the TANCET exam (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) conducted by the Anna University. The single-window counseling normally takes place in the months of July / August every year at the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore.
Candidates seeking MBA | MCA | ME admissions under the Management Quota must have written one of the entrance tests – CAT, XAT, ATMA, MAT or TANCET. The selection process is based on the scores in the entrance test as well as past academic record and performance at the Group Discussion and Personal Interview organized by the Institution.
Admissions under the Management Quota are made purely on merit.

- 35% of the total sanctioned intake can be filled under management quota.
- The tution fees for the same is approved by the government from time to time.
- The lapsed seats under government quota can also be filled under management quota. After obtaining prior advice from the university.
- The tution fee for the management quota can be fixed by the management, but not exceeding the tution fees prescribed by the government.
