  About Department

Mechanical Engineering is one of the major divisions within the profession and its principles are involved in the design, development and construction of nearly all of the physical devices and systems which technology has produced.Mechanical engineers are also concerned with the operations of all kinds of machinery and the production of power. They must conceive, research, design, develop, test, manufacture and sell equipments for these purposes.

Major Events

The Department conducts national and international conferences to share their knowledge obtained through research with other researchers in India and abroad. The Department of Mechanical Engineering also conducts many student level National Technical Symposia to bring out the technical skill of the students and to update their knowledge in the modern developments in Engineering and Technology. Hands-on design contest is the highlight of these symposia.

Mechanical Engineering Association is a forum for students to develop their professional skills. Students are also encouraged to take part in awareness campaigns that have social relevance.

  Infrastructure

The Mechanical Engineering Department has over 17 laboratories such as thermal engineering, heat-transfer, dynamics, metallurgy, metrology, fuels, etc.

Modern computing facilities are available for the students at Computer Aided Design and Computer Integrated Manufacturing Laboratories. Mechanical modeling software CATIA, I-DEAS, Solid works; Finite Element Analysis Software ANSYS, LS-Dyna, NASTRAN; Mechanical simulation software U-Grip, Virtual NC, QUEST, LS - DYNAFORM; Manufacturing software SOLIDCAM and CNC software are available to cater to the student's needs.
